People often message me asking what exactly it is that I do / why I travel so much.
.
I work full time for FEMA as an Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisor and I have a private practice called Conflix Management. Working for FEMA I serve as both an internal resource and as an advisor to stakeholders in disasters; my role is to provide conflict resolution services to a) resolve conflicts informally so that they don’t escalate to formal legal procedures and b) help the organization run more efficiently by training responders in conflict management and prevention skills. I do a lot of coaching— conflict coaching, exec coaching, career coaching, etc— plus mediations, systemic analysis, teambuilding, and trainings.
.
These are def not the most flattering photos, but they ARE photos of me out in the field doing what I love. After spending 9/12 months this year at disasters in Region VI (which covers AK, LA, NM, OK, TX) I have finally made it out to Region II to support recovery efforts in PR 🇵🇷With this job I get to travel all over and face unique challenges that help me grow personally and professionally every day. And best of all, I spend my days helping people change the way they talk to each other.
.
I get to help people transform the way they view/approach conflict. I help people reframe conversations about conflict by teaching them how to shift their dialogues from “I” to “we” and from “me” to “us.” My job literally revolves around guiding people to developing stronger relationships. Bc of that I wake up every single day thrilled to go to work.
.
In my private practice I do the same thing. I work with clients in conflict, both inter and intra personal with the goal of helping them find a better, more fulfilling path...whatever that means for them. Whether it’s an individual client who is struggling to meet their goals or find happiness, a couple or family that is operating in negative cycles, or an org whose mission or bottom line is negatively impacted by conflict, I help them identify the root cause of their conflict and help them pave a new path forward.
.
My 15 hour days are filled with joy.
Find your passion and your work will become service to humanity.
